MY LITTLE HERBALIST

Medicinal Botanical Flashcards for Children
Volume 1

Large, realistic botanical flashcards so your child knows exactly what's growing around them.

My Little Herbalist Flashcard Box

Some of my favorite memories with my children are outside, foraging, learning the plants together. There is nothing like the moment your child points to something growing and knows exactly what it is.

That’s what I made these for.

Look, it’s plantain. Nature’s Band-Aid.

This is not a far off dream. This is what happens when children are given the tools to learn the land around them. And it starts simply — with a card, a plant, a name, and a few minutes together.

These cards feature realistic, full-plant images of Pacific Northwest medicinal plants. Not illustrated. Not simplified. The real plant, exactly as it looks outside.

23 Pacific Northwest medicinal plants, each one exactly as it looks in the wild.

Three things are included in this download.

The image-only cards, so your child can study the plant on its own.

The image + name cards, so they begin to recognize it by sight.
And the Plant Story Guide. A companion guide with a story I’ve written for each plant, along with the medicinal use for every single one in the deck.

You will know how yarrow supports a scraped knee, how chamomile supports a restless night, how plantain supports a bee sting.

Read it together before bed.
Bring it with you on your walks.
This is how the learning becomes part of them.

Print full page on standard cardstock at home, or use digitally on any device.

“We’ve only been using these two weeks and my daughter already recognized plantain on our walk. She called it nature’s Band-Aid. I almost cried.”

— Jessica M., mom of a 4-year-old

“I always wanted to teach my kids the plants but never knew where to start. This made it so easy. We do the cards after breakfast now and it’s become our favorite part of the day.”

— Taryn B., mom of three

“My son is 3 and he already knows yarrow and dandelion by sight. He points them out on every walk. One of the best things we’ve bought.”

— Mara L., mom of a 3-year-old

Most plant materials for children are illustrated or cartoonish. They don’t translate outside. These are designed so what your child studies at home is exactly what they’ll see on the trail, in the yard, through a sidewalk crack. Real recognition. Not approximate.

A child who knows the plants around them knows the land they’re standing on. That is an ancestral skill. And it starts here.
