Most people believe willpower is a personality trait.

Neuroscience suggests something different.

There is a region of the brain called the Anterior Mid Cingulate Cortex, strongly associated with perseverance, emotional regulation, and mental endurance.

And it can be trained.

In yogic traditions, this training has existed for thousands of years through Kriya, the internal action of breath, rhythm, and focused attention.

Inside this master class Katrina bridges ancient Himalayan practice with modern neuroscience.

You will understand the science.

Then you will experience the practice.

Why I Invited Katrina to Teach This

The Primal Medicine Collective exists to explore the intersection of ancient healing traditions and modern physiology.

Katrina brings a rare depth of study in both worlds.

She carries a lineage of Himalayan yogic practice while also understanding how these techniques influence the nervous system and brain function.

When she began sharing her work on Kriya and neuroscience, I knew this would be a powerful teaching for our community.

This class explores something we rarely talk about in wellness.

How the brain develops perseverance.

And how ancient breath and movement practices can help train it.

I am excited to host this teaching inside the Primal Medicine Collective.

Meet Your Teacher -Katrina Cantu

Sattva Yoga Teacher, Energy Worker, Vedic Astrologer, Primal Medicine Practitioner

Katrina Cantu is a guide to embodied self-realization, weaving together the ancient wisdom of the Himalayan yogic traditions with modern functional science.

With over 1,500 hours of advanced training, Katrina’s work integrates Hatha, Kriya, Vinyasa, and Restorative practices grounded in the understanding that true knowledge must be lived in the body, not simply studied.

Her foundation comes from the Himalayan Vedantic Tantric lineage, studied extensively at the Sattva Yoga Academy in Rishikesh, India, under her teacher Anand Mehrotra, who carries the teachings of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

This lineage emphasizes direct experience and the awakening of consciousness through disciplined practice.

Katrina also trained as a Primal Medicine Practitioner under Annie Adamson, where she integrates Primal Vinyasa movement principles with yogic ritual and evolutionary biology.

This unique synthesis allows her to approach Kriya as a sophisticated nervous system technology. Through breath, rhythm, and mantra, she guides practitioners to stimulate the vagus nerve, balance the glandular system, and shift the body out of chronic survival patterns into states of creative vitality and flow.

Her classes are both grounded and expansive, combining precise teaching with deep experiential practice.

Why Katrina Teaches This Work

Katrina’s dedication to bridging neuroscience and Kriya is deeply personal.

Witnessing her mother’s journey with dementia inspired a shift in her studies toward understanding how ancient practices may support cognitive longevity.

Through this exploration she began studying how breathwork, rhythmic movement, and focused awareness influence brain health.

From a neuroscience perspective, these practices can support neuroplasticity, increase cerebral blood flow, and stimulate regions of the brain associated with perseverance and cognitive resilience.

For Katrina, Kriya is not simply ritual.

It is a proactive technology for nervous system health and mental clarity.
